Of promises kept and amazing grace.
An old man played a harmonica:
the haunting melody of “Amazing Grace.”

“What’cha playin’, Mister?”

“A song for my lady, Son.”

“Oh.”

The boy looked around in confusion.
“But she’s not here.”

The man was silent, smiling for his beloved wife.
“Oh, she’s here, Son.”

He lifted the harmonica to his lips
and played.
