This poem is a reflection on the meaning of spirituality.
If God were real, he said
Your passion would be, too
And those who claim that they believe
Would act as if they do

I felt my heart beat slowly
Drowning fantasy with truth
My a lovely garden
That seldom gives away its fruit

And so in prayer I bow my head
I know the mercy sweet
Extended to my life and dreams
I will shake off this sleep

God, let my purpose be to wake
With eyes that want to see
With hands that quickly find your will
To nourish and set free

I will touch the hungry souls
The broken and lonely
And not forget that long ago
That broken one was me

I have a promise to fulfill
A holy war to keep
These words to haunt my selfish dreams
And passion to unleash
