Dissolved by darkness And drowned profane
Last of the Innocents

Midnight sky on fire tonight
Down over the river ashes rain
Lost among the silent waters
Washed away against the pain

River creeps across the landscape
Water slipping through the veins
Seeping through a broken exit
Liquid clear as dark a stain

Dissolved by darkness
And drowned profane
The one thing pure
Lies crumpled, slain

The world plays on
Though nothing remains
Film on a backdrop
Flickers on in vain
