Dont lose yourself for too long, because you never know what might happen in your dreams
Your heart pounds in your throught,
You know you need to keep running,
Running from the evil that haunts you,
That stalks your every move.

Then you fall,
And feel the cold sting of steel against your skin,
Then you taste the salty sweetness of blood,
You know soon will be the end.

This is no reverie, you think,
You are not dreaming for you are fully aware,
The screaming pain cannot be hushed to sleep,
You writhe in pain, in your pool of blood.

The chill is still around you,
You know that the evil is still there, waiting,
Needing proof of your no longer existence,
Before the leave that will take the assailant away.

But you hold on,
And you keep conciousness,
Though the intoxicating pain wants to lull you to a deep sleep,
And you so wish you were asleep.

The evil loses patience,
Taking the knife to slit you violently,
The blood is everywhere,
And slowly you pass.

But you wake from the dream of gore and violence,
And realize you are whole, and very alive,
But who lies dead on the floor beside you,
And why are you covered in blood?
