Poem on the suffering of love, and how it ended, written for the "Pain of Love" prompt.
You lied to me, so long ago;
said you'd never go away,
promised me your heart and soul
Up until the other day:

You'd said I was the only one,
You loved me, and I loved you.
Until "It's time to move on, I
am, and so should you."

Now, I'm at your casket's side.
You left just last week.
You'd decided to take me for a ride,
told me we needed to speak.

Dropped me at the side of the road,
drove away in the dust.
Behind your car, my feelings towed;
My hope, sanity and lust.

I followed you, you never saw
The hatred in my eyes
That had been the final straw,
I would be your demise.

You had promised me you heart
Not so long ago
I still have it, at least in part,
But I've said goodbye to your soul.
