It may not have been broken if………..
BROKEN HEART: award winner

When I met you, in your love,
I was truly so blind.
I saw all virtues in you,
Not a flaw could I find.

You were the most beautiful,
With eyes blue and tender.
Lilting sweetness of your voice
Did me, speechless, render.

I thought you were so faithful,
In you, I had full trust.
Scarce I knew love was for you,
Another name for lust.

Love and frolic were, for you,
Two sides of the same coin.
You did not part with your heart,
But, mine, you did purloin.

My love was pure and sincere
But yours was a token.
Had I known your intentions,
My heart wouldn’t be broken.
