Santa Clause has a big day.
Christmas time was approaching and Santa was working hard.

"Whoa... this is harder than it looks! How about you trying to be Santa for a day?!" Nick asked his trusted elf Sal.

"I only make toys. And I never get paid!" Sal sighed.

Santa looked at Sal and gave him a look.

"Kids these days think that elves work hard, not get paid, besides, you like making toys don't you?" Santa asked Sal impatiently.

"I suppose." Sal agreed.

All of a sudden little Treasa came in. She was Sal's daughter, she had some good news for Santa.

"Santa I have great news!" Treasa giggled. "You are going to take a break!"

"But dear, I don't think Santa wants to take a break, do you Nick?" Mrs. Clause told both Nick and Treasa.

"Toys never take a break!" Santa agreed.

"Santa! You have to! You have to go to North America! You are going to get people to sit on your lap, and guess what, the santa helpers don't have to go to work today, come on!" Treasa insisted.

"OK." Santa comfusingly said.

Nick got ready for the big day.

"You forgot me!" Treasa chuckled.

Mrs. Clause calmly told Treasa "You may not go, dear. Santa has a big day, and anyways, you don't want to go to North America!"

Santa hopped on his sleigh and rode to the USA first. As he went into the mall. "Wow this is a big mall. And look at all these toys!" All of a sudden he thought that his work wasn't useful, anymore.

"Hmm, maybe I'm being to hard on myself."

But then he saw children getting early Christmas presents. Getting makeup, video games, clothes. All before Christmas.

This isn't good, he thought. Not good at all. "Oh well I guess I have to go to work."

He got on to his big red chair. And he saw all that he had figured he would see. Little girls, and boys. Babies, and tots.

But all of a sudden a girl, about eleven, sat on his lap. She had matted hair and dirty clothes. "All I want for Christmas is some food, and peace."

Then he remembered that it isn't about the presents, its about the joy when it gets open. The joy of the family together. The joy of waking up and enjoying Christmas. The joy of the lord. The joy of being Santa Clause.
