Here's the script for my move... so far. It's not done!!
The film opens with Detective Corwin entering his work building. He stops by Detective Corey’s office and enters.

Corwin:
Good morning sunshine.

Corey:
What do you want now?

Corwin:
Nothing, nothing.

He leans over Corey’s head to see the papers on her desk.

What are you doing?

Corey:
I’m stuck on this case, I mean, how can a group of criminals not leave any fingerprints at all?

Corwin:
Did you try-

Corey:
(Suddenly angry) Did I ask you?

Corwin:
Whoa, sheesh, I’m sorry.

Corey:
How long does it take you to figure out you’re not wanted here?

Corwin:
I think that little snap did it.

Corwin begins to exit the office

Corey:
Wait!

Corwin:
What?
Corey:
Have you gotten any further on your case? The Serial Killer?

Corwin:
No… it’s so weird. This guy will kidnap people. But instead of holding them for ransom he just kills him. Every time we find his hideout, he’s already moved on to a new one… and we’re just left with the corpses of his victims. I mean, he could at least try to get some money out of them.

Corey:
Well, if I didn’t doubt your intelligence entirely, I’d say you’re pretty educated on the subject of kidnapping.

Corwin:
Thanks.

Corwin exits. We go to a shot of an empty office in a Detectives office. Corwin enters.

Corwin:
Morning, Hathorne.

The camera pans over to show Hathorne was sitting at a desk the whole time.

Hathorne:
Good morning, Nick.

Corwin sighs

What’s the matter?

Corwin:
Nothing, I just wish you’d start calling me by my last name.

Hathorne:
Well, that’s not a problem, but may I ask why?

Corwin:
I don’t know… I guess I sound more official if I’m Detective Corwin, instead of Nick. I mean, you wouldn’t sound official if I started calling you Raymond.

Hathorne laughs

Hathorne:
Well, that’s true. I guess you’re right… Detective Corwin

Corwin smiles. The phone rings, Hathorne picks it up.

Hathorne:
Detective Hathorne and Detective Corwin’s office.

Joseph:
Hi Detectives, this is Deputy Joseph Drake. I’ve-

Hathorne:
Ah, Joseph! You’re still working with Officer Walcott right?

Joseph:
Yes sir.

Hathorne:
How is he these days?

Joseph:
Fine sir, but what I’ve been meaning to tell you is-

Hathorne:
Oh yes, what is it?

Joseph groans

Joseph:
Well sir, remember that Serial Killer you’ve been tracing?

Hathorne:
Damn straight I do! What about him?

Joseph:
We think he’s struck again. Six people have been kidnapped from their homes. Their names are Heather Calef, Jeremy Den, Kara Hale, Robert Harn, Loretta Hobbs and Michael Parker.

Hathorne:
Who was the last one to get kidnapped?

Joseph:
Kara Hale, Sir.

Hathorne:
What’s the address?

Joseph:
44 Bloom St.

Hathorne:
You and Walcott, meet us there ASAP.

Joseph:
Yes sir.

Hathorne hangs up.

Corwin:
What was that? It sounded important.

Hathorne:
Come on Detective Corwin, we’ve got somewhere to be.

We come to Kara’s house. Hathorne and Corwin enter.

Hathorne:
Hmm, we’re here first. Did Joseph even tell him?
Corwin:
There’s no evidence of a kidnapping Hathorne. I mean, I know no one’s here, but-

Hathorne:
No, there’s someone here. Listen.

Corwin:
It’s probably one of the girl’s parents. Let’s go talk to them; they’re probably shaken about this whole thing.

???????:
Actually, her file said she lived alone.

Both detectives jump. They look behind to see officer Walcott and Joseph.

Hathorne:
Oh, Walcott! Pleasure to see you.

Walcott:
Yeah, sure, let’s just get this job done.

Joseph:
Are you okay Nick? You look shaken.

Corwin:
If she’s been kidnapped, and there’s someone here, then…

He and Hathorne exchange nervous glances, suddenly a gunshot fires. All four of them drop down on instinct.

Joseph:
Whoever kidnapped her must still be here!

We see someone darting through the house. Walcott and Joseph follow them. Walcott is shouting some inaudible commands over the firing. Finally the person running is shot. This character’s name is Spencer.

Walcott:
Detectives over here, now!

Hathorne and Corwin come running
Hathorne:
You could interrogate him yourself you know!

Walcott:
We’re going to go look through the house,

He points at Spencer with his gun.

In case there’s more where that came from.

Walcott and Joseph leave.

Hathorne:
Who are you?

Corwin:
Where’d you come from?

Hathorne:
You work for him don’t you!

Spencer is just laughing the whole time.

Hathorne:
(Screaming) Answer me!

Spencer:
(In between gasps of breath) What’s the point? I’m going to die soon anyway, and why would I want to spoil the fun?

Corwin:
(Sarcastically) I can see why that guy employed you! You’re sadistic!

Hathorne:
(Still screaming) Where is he!?

Spencer laughs, and then heavily gasps.

Spencer:
They’re as good as dead.

Spencer dies.

Hathorne:
Damn!

Corwin:
Well… maybe Walcott and Joseph found someone.

Hathorne:
Call homicide, maybe they’ll find some evidence on his body.

Joseph enters, holding a folder labeled BLUEPRINTS.

Joseph:
We found this in the kitchen. You should look at it.

Hathorne takes the folder.

Hathorne:
Wow… Corwin, look at this.

Corwin:
It must belong to the killer… look.

Corwin points to the top left hand corner of the blueprint, where a picture of Kara has been paper clipped.

Hathorne:
The only question is… where does all this take place?

Walcott:
Joseph, we’re leaving, we’ve got nothing more to do here.

Hathorne:
I think Joseph would like to be called Deputy Drake, Walcott.

Walcott:
(Stubborn) Well if he wants to be called Deputy Drake, he can tell me, can’t you Drake?

Joseph:
Actually, Deputy Drake does sound nice sir.

Hathorne gives Corwin a knowing look while Corwin tries not to laugh. Walcott is almost red in the face from anger. No one should correct Walcott… ever.

Walcott:
Well that’s too bad… Joseph. We’re leaving.

Walcott and Joseph exit. The camera follows them as they get into their police car.

Walcott:
I want you to keep an eye out on those detectives Joseph.

Joseph:
Why?

Walcott:
(Whispering) Because as far as we know, anyone could ally with The Killer.

Joseph:
(Disbelievingly) Do you say that because you really think so, or because you’re still mad at Hathorne for that incident a few years ago?

Walcott:
(Angry) Don’t mention that!

Joseph:
(Backing down) Okay, okay!

Walcott:
I’m just saying that it could be anyone. And this killer is smart. He could have double agents for anything! Why should we rule Hathorne and his scrawny little apprentice out?

Joseph:
Nick, his name is Nick.

Walcott:
Yeah, sure, just keep an eye on them.

Joseph:
Okay, fine.

The car drives off just as an ambulance arrives for Spencer’s body. Inside Hathorne and Corwin are leaning against opposite walls. Hathorne is looking through the blueprint folder.

Hathorne:
Hey, look at this.

Corwin crosses over to look at the folder with him.

Corwin:
What is it?

Hathorne:
I was just thinking, all these shelves… it looks like they’re in a warehouse or something.

Corwin:
Yeah, but wouldn’t a warehouse be a pretty obvious place to hide these victims?

Hathorne:
I guess, what’s a secluded place that’s full of shelves?

Corwin:
A cellar?
Hathorne and Corwin look up at each other. The doorbell rings.

Hathorne: Who is it?

Paramedic:
It’s the paramedics. We got a call.

Hathorne:
Oh.

Hathorne and Corwin go to answer the door. The story shifts to a dark grimy cellar. Inside the cellar are Robert, Loretta, Michael, Heather, Jeremy and Kara. All of them are running around screaming, except Michael, who’s just sitting on a garbage can, smoking a cigarette.

Kara:
What do we do? What do we do?

Loretta:
All right, take deep breaths.

Heather:
I don’t wanna die!

The chatter begins overlapping and becomes nonsense

Michael:
Shut up! There’s nothing any of you can do, but screaming isn’t good for the nerves either.

Heather:
Well what the fuck are we supposed to do?!

The screaming resumes. Michael sighs and rolls his eyes.

Robert: Okay, we can figure out how to do this. We just need to remain calm and come up with a plan.

Michael:
Remain calm; no one except me has been calm since we wound up in this shitty basement.

Loretta:
If you don’t have any better ideas you can just keep your mouth shut.
Michael:
(Sarcastically) Yes sir

Loretta rolls her eyes.

Robert:
(Getting annoyed) Like I was saying… we need to try to be calm and come up with some sort of plan

Kara:
Like what?

Jeremy:
Maybe we should split into two groups or something.

Robert:
Okay, that’s an all right idea, what do you all think?

Heather:
I don’t care; I just want to get out of here!

Robert:
Well, for starters, a group needs a leader. Any volunteers?

Everyone just stares at Robert

Okay… fine. I’ll be one leader. Anyone want to lead the second?

He points to Heather

You should do it; you don’t seem to have a problem making yourself heard.

Heather:
No! I’m a crappy leader, ask any of the cub scouts at my camp!

Robert:
Great now you can prove yourself!

Heather:
Hell no!

Loretta:
I could lead her group.
Heather:
Awesome! Let her lead it!

Robert:
Okay… what’s your name anyways?

Heather:
It’s Heather.

Robert:
All right… Heather… I’m Robert, and I think you would be a good leader. Just make yourself heard.

Loretta:
What about me?

Robert ignores her

Robert:
Heather… please?

Heather is crying a bit and looking at the ground. Finally she lifts up her head.

Heather:
All right, fine.

Robert:
Thank you… now, who should be in what group?

Loretta:
I’m with you.

Robert:
All right, fine.

Kara:
I’ll be with Heather.

Robert:
Good.

Silence

What about you… Jeremy, is it?
Jeremy:
I don’t know, I can’t make any decisions.

Robert:
Why don’t you join Heather’s group?

Jeremy:
Okay, I guess.

Robert:
Thanks. (To Michael) Looks like you’re with us.

Michael:
(Aggravated) I’m not with anyone!

Robert:
Come anyway, I enjoy your company.

Michael laughs

Michael:
Well, your little College Crush is going to have to die right now.

Robert:
Yeah, I’m the one with the crush, and yet you can’t help but put in a remark for every little thing anyone says.

Michael:
Hey shut the fuck up!

The two start for each other. Loretta steps in between.

Loretta:
Hey, hey, what happened to “try to be calm”?

Michael:
Yeah, what happened?

Robert:
Look… just please come with us?

Michael sighs

Michael:
Fine… if it’ll shut you up.

Robert:
Thanks.

He turns to Heather’s group.

So we’ll split up, and meet back here in half an hour, and if a group goes missing, the other one goes looking for them?

Heather:
I don’t think I can do this…

Robert:
Yes you can, I have complete faith in you.

Heather nods

So… meet back here in half an hour?

She nods again

Okay, bye.

The groups go their separate ways.
