It's better to have loved and lost than to never learn your name.
I've got a way with words
You've got that way you smile
Tears the misery from the chords
I haven't smiled in a while
So this is because of you

And I know you feel the same
Just not for me
It's better to have loved and lost
Than to never learn you name

One day I may get the courage
To tell you who inspired this
`Til then I'll swallow my defeat
And enjoy you from across the street

And I know you feel the same
Just not for me
It's better to have loved and lost
Than to never learn you name

You wrote me one last goodbye note
You wrote her a melodic love song
You were her poison's antidote
And I know I'll never belong
