a poem about the feelings of a mythical creature of the night.
Thinking of you,
When nights are cold,
Time is lost…
I listen to silence,
The sound of silence,
Walking down a crowded lamp light street,
No one speaks to me,
For I am invisible..
Time is of no concern,
I walk through years,
Centuries pass me by,
Millennia are not too far off.
I watch the world,
Watch wars,
Watch people being cruel to each other,
Not realizing that the same thing will be them someday,
They will feel the pain of a gun,
I will not for weapons can not harm me,
Although there are times I wish they could.
I’ve seen so much,
It hurts now to open my eyes,
To remember the past,
I was a young one.
But now I am not,
Walking through the elaborate balls,
The motion pictures,
The computer age of this world.
The here and now is ugly and no one,
No one knows why I am here,
No one realizes that I am ever in existence.
I walk among you,
Watching everything,
Observing your kind,
Without you even sensing me,
I am invisible to you if I want to be.
My pale white face you do not see,
My green eyes are a mere image,
If only you knew the soul that is trapped in this body,
Somewhere the me that I was is locked inside and the creature
The creature has taken over,
The pain of all that I have seen.
The people living their lives hurting each other,
No peace,
From all that I have seen I wonder what your race will do,
Your race will come to an end fast,
For if I decide to or rather I decide for the moment,
To simply take what I need to observe.
I take the criminal the evil doer,
Rid them of society is that so bad.
I am much like you I get by on what I need,
What I desire to live,
Although I would not die if I did not have it is more of a
Way of keeping myself from feeling dead inside.
A prick on your kind and I am there,
You do not miss them nor realize that they are gone.
You just know that they are gone and live your lives,
Not realizing the war that rages right under your noses,
The immortality that I have but will never share.
A greedy kind such as you why would I give that gift to you,
You are food you are the hunted,
Yet you do not notice that you are it’s too little for you to realize,
Sometimes you catch one of my kind but you shall never catch me,
For I can pretend to be one of you.
I do not care for money although it has passed through my fingers quit a bit.
It simply comes with who I decide to have for that night,
Which I decide to become or who I decide to pretend to be.
Tonight it may be Cleopatra the successful daughter of a rich Texas oil tycoon,
Tomorrow it may be a simple maid to the rich, or a playboy playmate of Hugh Heffiners. Or just a simple girl you meet in a bar.
Who knows.
It is simply what I choose to become or what I choose to dress like.
I can fool even the best of your kind in to thinking that I fit in anywhere.
I am hunting you and you don’t even realize it until it will be too late then,
Then my kind will rage a war on you and being stronger than your kind,
We will win and inhabit this world and become the top of the food chain.
Of course to everything there is something that is hunted even you are hunted,
Possibly even we are hunted but we have killed off whoever hunt us.
Mmm if you only knew what I speak of you would be worthy of the gift of Immortality that I can give you.
But the question is would you want it. If I had the chance back the chance that was given to me I would not have taken it I would have let my maker kill me for immortality is not everything when every one you love everyone you care about dies around you and you live on forever.
