For those of us who remember being a kid
This was just the fun result of a prompt given at one of the writers' groups I sometimes attend.

Postal Princess

Lazy summer afternoons
I would climb to my perch.

Hot, sun-baked, metal
seared my skin.

I didn't mind
I was queen of the block,
for the moment.

Sitting on my perch,
I watched the world go by.

Others tried to challenge my position,
but I emerged victorious.

I was the Mistress of the Mailbox,
the Postal Princess
I reigned supreme.

The beauty of the written word is in the emotions they evoke. Hate my characters or love them; as long as your feelings are genuine and run deep.
If I have succeeded in making you feel something, I have succeeded as an author.
