The perplexing diversity within human nature.
Somewhere
at this moment
a woman sits in her tub
watching her exposed wrist as it bleeds,
while a child lays his head tenderly
on mother's soft shoulder as she reads.

Somewhere
at this moment
man raises a tight, clenched fist
at a frightened woman as she stands,
while a toddler delights as he sits
with dad on a beach, and plays with sand.

Somewhere
at this moment
a forgotten old man waits,
watching a never-opening door,
while a husband embraces his wife
with closed eyes for a minute, and more.

Somewhere
at this moment
a stranger snatches young girl,
never to see her family again,
while two brothers break a skirmish
to marvel upon a golden glen.

Somewhere
at this moment
men create bombs intended
to slay not soldiers, but innocents,
while a boy's eyes glow on in wonder
at his baseball sailing over fence.

Somewhere
at this moment
teenager loses control;
car flips, crushing head, flesh and bones,
while a girl deftly flicks her expert wrist,
skipping a lake with flat-bottomed stones.

Somewhere
at this moment
in this world, one can be sure,
life indeed is all the time tragic,
and yet, at that very same instance
take comfort, for it's also about magic.
