The Strongest Heart

How does one qualify a heart as dead?
Beyond repair,
unfixable,
defeated?
Is it the heart itself,
plagued by disease,
that is simply too weak to go on?
Or is it the heart that loses another,
and has nothing more to lean on?
All reasons seem logical,
but think on another level.
Who was there to care for that heart as it suffered?
The Strongest Heart was there.
That single heart,
the one who gives,
and never gets back.
The heart that drops all of its struggles,
to assist all the other hearts.
But no heart is perfect,
and even The Strongest Heart starts to die.
But its will drives it to the very end,
until its last beat.
And as it pumps those last drops of blood,
the world stops,
if only for a second,
to wonder at the Strongest Heart.
