The gifts of gratitude and life
THE GIFT OF LIFE

He stood upon the brink of life
yet all he saw was death.

He stood amidst the din of strife
yet all he heard was peace.

He walked along the path of hope
yet every step spelt doom.

He scrabbled hard to find a rope
yet all he found was trust.

Confused and sad, he knelt and wept
yet every tear was joy.

He stood and smiled his heart bereft
yet all he felt was bliss.

He'd wanted to reject the zest
yet knew he had been blessed:
and now he knows life is the best,
how dare we fail this test?
