This is a poem i wrote about someone... My friends keep telling me it should be a song.
Time
By Monika L. Brown

I’m walking down the road,
Alone at last.
I realize now
That all of that
Is in the past.
Step by unsteady step;
Within my soul
Lies the place where
This energy is kept.
The road seems to grow longer
With each uneasy movement,
And I’m suddenly alone;
Left behind, forgotten,
Cradled by the unknown;
And just when all seems lost,
You appear before me,
And between us,
The past is tossed.
No longer alone,
I embrace this newfound warmth.
As you touch my hand,
I feel the unavoidable
Tears come forth.
My lost joy has returned,
And with you by my side,
The rest will be burned;
But what is that light?
Warm, yet saddening,
Piercing through the night.
Truth of reality
Has struck once again,
And with it,
It carries away
What could have been;
And the rhythmic beating
Of my heart
Resembles that of a clock,
Pulsing, ticking, beating;
Emotions are flung through the air
Like a dart,
And in the end,
I know that only
Time will tell
The way in which
Our hearts will bend.
