A RAGING STORM

Dark clouds gather in the evening sky,
there will be no setting of the sun this day.
The rain begins to fall, quite gently at first,
building to a fevered pitch as trees sway.

Tension rises as the words you speak
bring a torrential downpour, and my eyes,
once smiling, turn black as a starless night.
I have listened much too long to your lies.

The wind picks up speed, a force too intense
to withstand the onslaught of nature's wrath.
Lightning streaks across the sky as I watch.
I throw my head back and begin to laugh.

You were my daylight, my love, my life.
Now to think that you are walking away
with no regret for the loss of our lifetime
together, ignites my darkness, hell to pay.

Uprooted, the tree beside our home falls,
crashing down onto the ground, slow motion.
A raging storm so like the rage I feel inside.
As waves of torment flood each new emotion
