Poem about that one person who you can never truly let go.
~Pictures of You~

Bold gray eyes that can make me smile with just one glance
Strong, cool, and here just for me
Immovable, yet inviting personality
I cling to every word you say, every movement you make
This is what I see when I look at you.

Why can't I get over that certain way you make me feel
Always wanting more,
Then finding it's not real
My memories, beautiful and strong
Are not true and never were
Why do I keep holding on to you?

These pictures of you, that I keep like treasures, are really keeping me
They entice me to look, to dream
Of a life that is not real
Of a love that is not there.

Why can't I get over that certain way you make me feel
Always wanting more,
Then finding it's not real
My memories, luminous and strong
were never true
Why do I hold on to these pictures of you?

I could go back
I could do it all again
Yet it would never be the same
As the pictures in my head.

These pictures are relentless
They never let me sleep
But if I went back to you
Emotions wouldn't run so deep
As my story goes, I would begin to feel a need for something more
A need for something true
Because reality is only a very small piece of the pictures in my mind, of you.
