overcoming addiction, winning the battle.
Your bodies desire, a constant reminder,
of the day you let it get a hold on you.

You battle against it, hoping to win.
But instead meeting disappointment around every bend.

This dark desire, quiet at first,
is now overwhelming, with its growing girth.

It seems like forever since you eased its thirst.
But you continue to fight the unwavering curse.

Trying to remember why you wanted to quit,
is the reason worth all the pain you are being attacked with.

The thought enters your mind, just once more can't hurt.
Then I will quit and leave the temptation in the dirt.

In that fatal moment the decision is made,
And you again give in to the hunger.
That plagues you day by day.

But a parasite can not survive off of one bite.
So it continues to torture you with devilish delight.
until you are ready to stick out the fight.
