Reflections of a stressful time - pondering a life that's gone before - acceptance
Stressful Clouds
By
Richard Vance

The pressure builds and builds,
And once again,
I get that sinking feeling in my gut,
It just shows up;
And come to think of it,
It never really goes away.
The clouds…
The sounds…
The pain…
The rain…
Just won’t diminish all that much and
All the stressors of my daily life,
They come and go…
They grow and grow…
I know.
I would like to think that I could handle
All of them -
The whole damn bunch;
But as the years fly by and we’re
Supposed to live our “golden years”,
The problems, still they come -
A free-for-all;
One by one by one…
The new ones run and leap aboard,
Reside inside…
Enjoy the ride…
But isn’t there a way to stop the bus?
To get on and off and simply walk away?
To stop the noise and
Put away all sinful toys,
And just enjoy, enjoy…
And find a simple
Inner peace – a sanctuary place?
But I guess for now, I’ll rest and
Save the fragments, side by side,
And hide the granite slab
For just a little longer
Still…
And choose to lie in soft and grassy fields,
Watching clouds float by…
