rich girl explores her imaginary world...unlike her early 1900's couterparts. Short.
Caramel Custard

The bright sun reflected off of her ivory skin, as if she where a jewel shining in the backyard of her father’s house. The girl lay on the ground horizontally.

She didn’t exactly know what she was doing, or why. It could be because of the new grass that was out-growing over the old dead grass, which was an evident sign of the spring season finally being here. It could be because of the sound of children playing in the distance, or the peace the new fragrance of nice the whether that lingered through the slight breeze. Maybe, it was because her nanny had finally given up and went home to live her own life instead of dealing with a young rich girl who spent too much time in her own imaginary world.

It had been a hard winter for months and this year had been the longest one yet. The promise of spring had shown in the sun for days, and this was the perfect time for the girl to enjoy it. Plus, there wasn’t many times like this where she could be alone.

The sun was on its brightest day this year, and seemed to bring out the beauty in everything. The winter weather had added dullness to the atmosphere, and the girl almost forgot what her hair color looked like in the sun. Her brownish-red was now clearly a hard-core cinnamon.

The breeze lightly moved the girl’s hair from one side of her face to the other. Her eyes stayed closed as her arms stretched out along the prickly grass. She sighed in her reverie. The rim of her blue sun-dress was spread out along the grass next to her body.

The girl stretched out her arms some more and grabbed a hold of some grass with each hand. She didn’t up-root the handfuls right away, but instead clenched onto them as if they were handle bars.

She took in a deep breath as her eyes opened. She then smacked her lips together with a popping noise. She could taste the Caramel Custard Lip balm she was wearing. The substance lubricated her lips and made them smooth. This was not your ordinary lip balm, for this was the expensive kind that her father had gladly bought her on one of his many expeditions to the West. It was one of the many gifts that was given to keep her busy; either that, or a replacement for father-daughter affection.

"Kiss me, and I may live," she muttered.

The girl was imagining herself as a beautiful princess awaiting her rescuer to kiss her glossy lips and revive her. She felt like a child for playing such a fantasizing game, but she knew that there is a child inside all of adults; they just failed to acknowledge it for social embarrassment reasons.

The girl let out a loud giggle as she moved her fists full of dead grass forward with aggression. The grass easily came out of the ground, as the girl hastily threw the grass into the air in triumph.
