Others have their own problems. Try to help them rather than seek their help.
EXPECTATIONS: a sonnet

We often lament we are not well cared
By friends and acquaintances in our life.
But they too are not from their problems spared.
They also have in their own life much strife.

It’s true that we need others’ love and care,
But do we give the same to those others?
It’s too uncommon, almost rather rare
To find one who for others’ sake suffers.

Why not the others’ wounds we learn to heal
Before expecting them to heal our own?
The pain of others we should try to feel
And not in front of all, just cry and moan.

No man can be an island to himself.
Ere seeking help, help others and yourself.
