Love can be lasting, can't it?
The blazing fire radiates its warmth
Encompassing the couple as they reminisce.
Many years unfold within the flames
Till again they experience their first kiss.

As the fire consumes the oaken logs
So the years have consumed the lovers' youth.
The flickering light and crackling sounds
Lull the pair into sleepy dreams of truth.

Dying embers give off their final glow
As the years have stolen youth from the two.
So the fire’s light and warmth fade to an end
The couple sleeps, their tomorrows too few
