The slow death of a girl's artistic dreams.
What happened to the girl who loved art?

That middle school dreamer who covered pallid park pavement with her chalk masterpieces;

Who wrote poetry and made collages, hung them on the wall;

Who went eagerly to drama classes and sat upon the vast stage;

Who performed mimes and skits for youth group and danced in recitals--

Where did she go?

She dreamed of being an actress, a filmmaker, or dancer;

Wanted to go to an arts school and move to California.

Hollywood, Broadway or maybe the indie scene,

It mattered little to her as long as she could perform and create!

Then, gradually, "reality" set in.

Reality that told her these ambitions of hers were too lofty, too fanciful.

She'll never really reach those goals.

Better to just give up and find something else.

So she did.
