poetry about surving a domestic abuse relationship
I remember the first time we met .

Love at first sight

My heart was been unlocked ,but my fate had been set.

I remember the first fight.

The first slap of your hand that knocked out the light.

I thought it was me

I must have done something wrong.

So I buried the hurt and lived through the shame.

I thought to myself "I can learn how to play your game."

As time went on the fights got worse .

You took all I had

my life was nothing more than a bad curse .

Eleven years and five kids later

Here I am on my own trying to stand strong .

For it wasn't me, but you who been so wrong.
