A friend's observation of spousal abuse.
                        Your smile betrays you,
in all that life is truly about.
You cry too often behind its brilliance,
                      that beckons you to shout.

Lies that belittle the true pain that you feel,
the mental pain that makes the physical...be still.
                    Liars come, then they go,
they have issues , don't you know.

It must be some kind of world
                          where they come from,
                            theirs to deal with...
                          not yours to succumb.

Don't sell whats in your soul
your heart feels, and your mind does know,
                            is some future pain,
that will raise its ugly head again.

In your head create your stand,
                    make those lifelong changing plans.
Fight for yourself, down that path you're led,
to live and change your world instead.

So raise your head and wear that smile.
                              I hope you'll WALK...
                              in the brilliance of it,
                              for a long,long while.
