The continuation of our miracle!
Looking back as I write this I can't believe Callan is almost 4 months old. I remember everything I just wrote as if it all were just yesterday. Time goes by so quickly. Callan is now spoon feeding, sitting up with help, babbleing and talking all the time, laughing and smiling. I savor every moment, because I can see how fast it is all going.

The simple things we do as a family are often things people do out of routine, putting no real thought to it. But I cherish every moment and love it all, even if it seems boring and normal and plain. Take today - June 24th, 2008 - for instance. We got up this morning and as a little family (Hayley, Jason, Callan) went to the car dealership and got a recall on our car fixed. Then we came home for lunch, and after lunch ran a few errands to the car parts store and the toy store. When we came home, Callan and I played on the floor with his toys and then he fell asleep watching Baby Einstein on the TV. Basic simple stuff, but stuff I enjoyed doing, because we did it as a family. Now tonight, we'll have dinner and go for our nightly walk, and then Callan will go to bed. Our evening routine.

I don't know how often I will write this story/journal/diary/whatever you want to call it. But it is just for my children. Right now, just for Callan to read when he is older. Today is August 20th, 2008 and Callan is almost 6 months old. It is all going so fast and I cherish every moment. Before I know it, my baby boy will be all grown up. He's rolling over all the way, sitting up on his own. He can stand while leaning on/holding on to a table. He is trying to crawl. He is eating baby jar food. He is learning the sippy cup. He is finally sleeping in his crib in his own room. Callan already has such personality and I love his smile and his laugh and his little baby babbles. It sounds like he says: Mama, Dada, BaBa, Nana, Boo Boo, Baby. Who knows yet if he really knows what he is saying. Poor baby has been through so much with the reflux and the milk sensitivity, and now he is teething, so he doesn't always feel the best and sometimes he is a real bear. In fact, his nick name from Jason and I is Bear.

Callan just loves his Daddy. Jason is Callan's best friend right now. He just lights up when Jason walks in the room. Sometimes I get jealous and even sad, and I know that is dumb because I know my son loves me. But Daddy is the playmate and Mama is the care taker. Jason gets to play with Callan and be silly and goofy and laugh, while I am the one who feeds, changes, bathes Callan. And I do the things that in a little baby's eyes (or anyone's!) is annoying, like picking out his boogers, cleaning out his ears, clipping his nails, etc. Things that just aren't fun to a baby! Don't get me wrong, I do get to play with my son a lot and we laugh and have fun. And Jason does his share of diaper changes and feedings. But at the end of the day, I'm the one with spit-up on me.
