... a treasure from my dad.
ONE THING I CHERISH

I have a green kitty-cat bank,
         with blue crystal eyes, one missing... 
         a gift from my dad
         when I had my tonsils removed.
         I was five.

Though I turned fifty this year,
         my precious green kitty-cat still sits
         poised proudly on the dresser--- 
         its significance surrounded by love
         found in a purposeful purchase. 

(My mom usually does the shopping;
         yet this treasure came
         straight from the heart of dad.)
