This poem is about succumbing to the dark desire often felt by victims of depression.
In the reflection I watch the show,
Ghost like tablets disappear.
Not enough but just enough,
Oh no, she will not feel tonight.
Tear the razor down her arm, or throw your petty insults,
Tonight nothing is real.
Blurred lines shape the edges of her vision…
Medicated oblivion.
What she swore she didn’t want she self inflicted.
Dark desires taunting, haunting,
Empty, lifeless eyes,
Beating heart that won’t abide.
The steady, wretched beeping of the heart she wills to cease
Look at the smile on patient lips.
Tactfully biding time,
Until the backs are turned,
Then the venom strike, the final scene.
Tiny circle shovels digging a hole in muddy ground.
No one can hear you scream beneath the dirt.
No one can see your tears beneath the mask.
Hide your shame,
Crawl into the arms of the darkness she so loves.
The last embrace she’ll ever know.
The only one, that won’t let go.
