Seven years after 9/11, 35000 US troops brave the mountain snow in Afghanistan.
AVENGING THE TWIN TOWERS

Let the gentle sweep of snow
Bury the violent
Devastation by which the
High mountains have been rent.

In Afghanistan, each day,
A human bomb explodes.
This terror, for the whole world,
A hopeless omen bodes.

Taliban and Al-Qaida,
The US so declared,
Are its enemies but have
So far been rather spared.

In the year two thousand one,
Twin towers did collapse.
Seven years to avenge it
Are not enough perhaps!

As the winters visit the
Rugged Afghan mountain,
Let the gentle sweep of snow
Bring there some calm again.
