Personalities of Winter

Sometimes
swan's down fingers
lilt
feather touches
outlining every branch in white.

At others
diamond-edged nails
etch
crystal designs
turning glass to sunlit prisms.

Yesterday
raw blizzard-breath
bit
gnashing teeth
spewing shards of glass,

and, today, the
icy hand of winter
fists
bruising knuckles
snapping the pine.
