The corporeal sojourn over, the spiritual starts.
INTO THE NIGHT I WANDER

I came here with the morning sun,
A nascent ray, a tiny bud,
A drop of dew, pure, innocent.
You made me in Your own image.

I grew up and played merrily,
Wondering at Your creation,
Befriending the dog and the cat,
The fish, the fairies and the toys.

Then came the noon and the robust
Manhood and the lust for power,
The thoughts of conquering the world
And being conquered by someone.

By the evening shadows lengthened.
I was too tired, no more the strength.
The firmness of the grip was lost.
The vision dimmed, the step faltered.

The day’s over, the journey’s done.
All around me is cold darkness.
Into the night I wander now,
No path and no destination.

Lord, guide me, I beseech You, please
Take charge of me, I surrender.
I can no longer move onward.
Hold my hand, have mercy on me.
