A poem about dead love
My heart, mi querido, is no longer whole
You’ve taken all my pride
The love and joy I used to feel
You have replaced with lies.
The sweetness of these by-gone days
We thought would last forever more.
The sweet days when I used to praise
Your lips, your touch, my paramour
Are now all gone. Why is this so?
What did I to deserve this pain?
Why do our hearts no longer glow
With love’s eternal flame?
Is misery this discontent
With what is in her grasp
That she must go and take our love
Away from one another’s clasp.
What happened to those Valentines
We used to hold so dear
Or is it that in these few days
You’ve made them disappear?
