Alternate Title: This is Beauty
At least once a day I sit down in front of a stand, open a folder, and out come some paper. To many people this paper, covered with its seamingly random assortment of lines, dashes, circles, and what not, is some code, some huge secret. In a way it is. You do need to spend time learning how to break this code, and it can take years to learn all of its secrets. When you do break the code the rewards are endless.
No, its not government secrets worth millions of dollars. Those lines and circles that I and many others spend our time looking at is the secret to one of lifes greatest gifts. With a knowlede of this code one can unlock the secrets of the universe. With a complete understanding one can create joy or sorrow, apathy or empathy, all at a moments notice. No other tools are required. If a person really tries they can memorize the codes messages and take this knowldge with them anywhere they go, and they dont even need the paper that the code is on. Those who truly love and know this code can even use it to create there own powerful messages.
Of course, as is with all types of power, this can be used for both good and evil. One moment it may be telling the sweetest truths, when the next it may be spreading vile lies. For just as easily as this power can create beauty, it can lend in its destruction. Raw power such as this has no side, owes allegiance to no one. People can only hope to tame its wild beauty and power so that it will work for good, not for evil.
As time has grown we have found ways to spread this code to more and more people. It can be printed and sent anywhere in the world. It can be sent digitally to any computer on the globe. It is so sought after that people will go to any length to have it, even if it is illegal.
Of course, this is why we love it. We love this code for its beauty and anger, its ability to express better than words ever could. This is why we love music.
