A reflection and comparison of life as I have seen it to that of a Chess game.
Chess Pieces of Life

I wonder have you ever played chess and if you have, did you notice how the game is so much like our own life.  Our lives start off as Pawns, taking a step at a time hoping for no major pitfalls as we learn all the lessons and the defenses that life itself has to offer.

Later we went along, we became as a Knight; jumping over little problems that came along as we went our way while we grew a little older, braver and wiser.

Soon we became as Rooks or Bishops soaring down any one of four directions North, South, East or West, yet always keeping an eye open for any danger as we went along.

When our age crept up upon us we became as Kings.  We had learned how to move in any direction and to any moderation in between, but taking it carefully as we first did when born, ever so slowly, one step at a time.

For some of us though as brave or crazy fools we try to take life as a Queen.
Going in any direction we please.  Running circles at times in confusion soaring from here to there leaving destruction in our path hurting others as we go.

It’s a shame that a life like that will usually end in woe.
