A poem about old friends, missing and gone...
An infinite quandary, and ill-fated luck,
We’ve suffered the loss of a once-loyal friend;
In lowly, miserable feelings we’re stuck,
Our hearts, now saddened, are yearning to mend.

The cause of this painful loss was our search
For the most endearing and kindest reward,
Happiness and love, like a songbird’s perch,
That hopeful place that God directs us toward.

The most precious gift old friends would share,
Besides their forgiveness and everlasting graces,
Is how joyous we’d feel and long to be there,
Thankful and proud for their true, smiling faces!

Once happy times are remembered like ghosts;
We long for past glories in our hours of waste.
Past, broken friendships seem ungrateful hosts,
A finality structured in such dreadful haste!
