An old poem of first love, and how you never forget. Feedback welcome.
Your radiating smile warms
the darkest corners of my heart.
You make me feel safe
and nothing else matters when we're together.

But we're not together, now.
And I don't know what to do.
I feel lost and confused and alone.
I just want to be with you.

But, maybe it's better this way.
Maybe, I'm better off alone,
Like I've always been before.

Maybe, my heart won't skip a beat
when you enter a room.
Maybe, when your hand brushes mine
I won't feel a thing.

Maybe, when you smile
my heart won't melt.
Maybe, I'll be happier without you,
Without your arms around me,
Making me feel safe.

Maybe, I could learn to live without you.
Maybe, just maybe, I'll live long enough to forget you.
Maybe, I'll die trying.
