When ignorance is bliss, it is folly to be wise.
BETTER YIELD TO FOOLS: a sonnet

No I shall not allow myself to be
By fools lured into unseemly duel.
Of my words and thoughts they are not worthy
For whom intelligence is too cruel.

The wise have said clearly since days of yore:
Avoid the fools, do not argue with them.
You will otherwise lose mental peace your
When fools create nonsensical mayhem.

When ignorance is bliss, why be then wise?
When wisdom is a curse, why display it?
By arguing with fools we pay a price:
The men of credit come to discredit.

Better keep them at a full arm’s distance.
But don’t anger them, keep up a pretence.
