a poem i wrote for and read at my dads funeral a week ago.
I KNOW

When I hear the song the wind weaves through the crisp morning air, I shall think of you.

When I see the birds take to the sky, so free and so radiant, I shall remember you.

When the darkest shadows of this world threaten to engulf me, I shall trust you.

When I can no longer see a reason through the pain, I shall depend on you.

When I reach the pinnacle of my existence, I shall thank you.

When I near my end, I shall wait for you.

I know this because I know you will never truly be gone.

I know you will always guide me, always protect me, and never leave me.

I know I will always be surrounded by your love, the same love that encircled me throughout your life.

I know I will never be alone. I know you will never be forgotten. I know I will always love you.
