The soul is like a banana; don't know why? Read this poem and find out...
One’s soul evokes the passion,
Clarity, nutrition, and flavor
Of the soft-skinned, yellow fruit,
The delicious, ubiquitous banana
Which grows in clusters on
Tropical and subtropical
Tree-like plants.

The soul of a person is often pale and white
Like the banana’s edible, tasteful parts,
Becoming emotionally frustrated and challenged
And achingly awkward by God’s grandiose design,
Being wrapped in a delicate skin
Which allows it to be easily bruised.
Mostly, the soul exists to be
Hovered about and enjoyed
Upon peeling away the outer covering,
But this frequent, deliberate exposure
Can leave us feeling intense,
Excruciating discomfort.

So admire the fruit carefully and gracefully,
But leave it unpeeled from time to time –
Allow your soul some barely adequate protection
From the easily removable covering.
Because emotions are a gratifying gift,
But not a rare one, and not unwavering,
Becoming ripe for much unflattering and unkind
Biting and ingestion!
