Once a beautiful road through New Orleans east.
Take a drive on Old Gentilly Road
down in New Orleans East
and you'll see burned-up trailers,
beat-up cars and mounds of trash.

It is against Environmental Quality codes,
to dump garbage and metal beasts,
former beauty now made paler;
broken glass, melted plastic, ash.

Each week comes another load;
the unsightly mess increased.
The implications are scalar,
all the city's refuse in this stash?

What was once beautiful erodes.
This is New Orleans East,
hiding the Easy's death pallor,
beneath a mound of trash.

Take a drive on Old Gentilly Road
down in New Orleans East
and you'll see burned-up trailers,
beat-up cars and mounds of trash.
