“What is this?” I asked myself aloud, laying on the bed. What is this sadness that I

feel. Is it possible. . .? No! That cannot be. There is no way I miss him. That would

mean. . .and he’s part human. That wouldn’t work. Just forget about it Kayla. There

will be no happily ever after. There was a knock on the door. Who in the world could

that be. Is it. . . no. Maybe Rob or Sheyna forgot their keycard. I get up and walk

over to the door, and open it to see J.B. “What the hell? You’re three days early!”

“Yeah. Um. . .sorry. . . its just. . .I needed to talk to you. . .and I couldn’t wait any

longer. Is it a bad time?”

“It’s fine. Come on in. I’m sorry. I didn’t meant to be so rude. You surprised me

is all. I thought you would wait until the end of the week. “

”Yeah. Sorry. . .again.”

“So. . .what do you want to talk about?”

“I decided that I’m gonna help you. I mean, I can’t let the world die. I don’t want

anyone to die because of me. Especially not you” he added, mumbling under his

breath.

“What?”

“ I don’t want you to die. I mean. . .I think. . .I think I’m in love with you!”

“Oh. . .um. . .w-what exactly do you think we should do about that?” I stuttered. Did

he just say what I think he just said. There is no way! He can’t feel the same way

as I do. That’s impossible.

“I think we can work it out. After all, nothing is impossible.” he replied as if he were

reading my thoughts.

“But . . b-but.” I stuttered. Why can’t I say something. Anything!

“No buts. I know you feel the same. I can see it in your eyes.” he tilted my chin up

after I looked towards the floor. “I love you.” he then kissed me. At that moment I

felt like I do when I am flying in the peaceful air. . .only five times better. When the

kiss ended, I looked into his eyes and said “Why? Why after only two days? How

could we fall in love with each other that quickly.

“It’s simple. Love at first sight. At least for me it was. Maybe I just put you under my

spell, and it worked. You never know.” I laughed. He made me feel at ease. Then

he asked, “do Meeka and Rob know about the Mother Nature thing?”

"No. Not really. It is kind of hard to bring up. Besides, what if they are like you

were, they would leave me. Humans can be very fickle sometimes.”

“Humans can also be reliable sometimes. I think you should trust them to decide. Do

they want to be reliable . . .or fickle, as you put it.” he added laughing.

"Do not make fun of the way I speak. The late 1800s and early 1900s took hold of

my grammar. It is perfect. Except when i'm mad”

“Nobody and nothing is completely perfect. Not even you.”

“Depends on how you define perfection.”

“How do you define it”

“Perfection is merely being the best you, you can be. Not trying to be someone

else. Doing the best you possibly can, even if someone else’s best is better than

yours.”

“Very wise. You have a weird way of interpreting things. I love it.”

“Whatever. Can you take me back to the woods. It feels more like home there.”

“Whatever you want, mi reina.”he grabbed me by the hands and took me to his

escalade.Laughing again, I say, “I wonder if there’s a lake or something nearby.

I remember. . .” I trailed off. Why would I say something like that. Not so soon.

“You remember what.’” seeing the look on my face he added, “come on. You can

tell me.”

“I remember when my mom used to call me her little lady of the lake. The one in the

King Arthur legend.”

“Why did she call you that?”

“I love the water. I begged her everyday to take me to places like the Niagra falls.”

“Really? K. C. what was your mother like?”

“My mother was the best mother I could ask for. She was wise, beautiful, fun,

loving, everything I could ever ask of in a mother. She was just a little too trusting.” I

replied sadly.

“Sorry. I shouldn’t have asked.”

“Don’t worry. I’m the one who brought it up.”

“So, what’s it like to be up there?”

“Nothing like you think. It is much like it is here. “

”Is there a God?”

“There are many gods, but there is God. The ruler of us all. If that’s what you

mean.”

“So, did you like it up there? Is that heaven?”

“Yes, I liked it up there, but there is real beauty down here.” I laughed as I added,

“and no, it is not Heaven. I’ve never been to Heaven. It is out of my jurisdiction.”

“What do you mean by that?”

“What I mean is, only certain people are allowed into certain parts. That wasn’t

one of my areas as Mother Earth or as you say Mother Nature.”

“So what do I call you?”

“Just call me K.C. That is still my name after all.”

“Okay. So. . .how does this work? What do I have to do to. . .um, help save

humankind? “

”Well, first I have to help you harness your power. We’ll need you to be at your full

power.” I said stepping out of the car.

“How?”

“We’ll have to go to two different places. How do you feel about traveling?” I asked

sitting on the cool grass

“Depends on how far we have to go. I can’t leave my mother for long. I’ve always

wanted to travel overseas to places like India, Japan, and Paris. See the leaning

tower of Pisa. Why do you ask?”

“Umm . . . that’s a problem. We have to go to Africa-”

“Africa! Are you crazy?! I can’t go to Africa!”

I stood, the sky darkening. “Do not raise your voice at me! And do not interrupt me!

Either you want to help or you don’t.” I responded angrily, my voice getting

dangerously low “this is the only way you can. So either do it or get the hell out of

here. I don’t needsomeone who’s going to desert me at the last minute. You have

a choice to make. Are you staying or going? Make it and make it now. After this

there is no turning back. I will not be my mother. I will kill you before I allow you to

get me killed saving you stupid humans.”

“I’m sorry. You just caught me by surprise. Of course I’m going with you. I shouldn’t

have reacted like that, I’m sorry. So where else are we going?”

“We are going to go to Japan as well. You get to go to one of those places you

mentioned. We might even go to London and Paris after we finish. It all depends on

how long it takes to develop your power.”

“What is the maximum time? I mean when does. . . is it supposed to happen?”

“We have about one year at most. It is supposed to happen on our birthday next

year.”

“Our birthday! Man, that sucks. I have to save humankind on my b-day.”

“Yes. It does. How are you going to tell your mother? A year traveling abroad will

not go unnoticed.”

“I thought about telling her the truth,”he held up his hand to let him finish “but she’s

worst than James. She’d probably put me in a crazy house. So, I’m going to tell her

that I’m going on a trip to Africa for a scholarship. She’d believe that. I do a lot to

make sure that I get in to college. I’m going to hate lying to her though. I haven’t

done that since I was nine.”

“I could never lie to my mother. I picked that up when I was five. She was too

perceptive. Like I am now. I have always wondered if it was because of the Mother

Nature thing or because she was my mother, or both. I guess I’ll never know.”

“I guess it must be like hell.”

“I don’t know what you mean.”

“To be so close to her, and not be able to see her because it’s not your ‘jurisdiction’.

It would probably drive me crazy. How did you cope?”

“I wasn’t there most of the time. If I had been, I am sure it would have. My powers

are tied to my emotions. I had to keep myself sane or I would have destroyed

myself and you all with me. I knew she wouldn’t have liked that.”

“What changed?”

“I experienced for myself the pain and suffering Earth has gone through over the

years. Stupid wars with no real reasons behind them. Constantly cutting down

all the trees, pollution, driving the animals extinct with incessant hunting. It

hardened my heart against the humans. They all are so. . . clueless. They

constantly complain about their situations, when the Earth is suffering. It is a living

organism. It made me believe that humans should be extinct. Let nature take over

again. So the Earth can heal over time. This stupid process of saving them, erasing

their memories, and letting them do the samething over and over again needs to

end.”

“I agree with you partly. . .but maybe if they kept their memories they would learn

from them. Strive to be better. I think that would be worth a try.”

“I don’t know. So, we leave at the end of the week. I have to break it to Meeka and

Rob. I wonder how they will take it.”

“You’ll never know unless you try.”

“Maybe. I think we should be going back now. I’ll make the necessary

arrangements. You just tell your mom.”

What should I do? I know I have to save Earth. I have to save my family

and friends. What I want to know is, how am I going to deal with my feelings for

her. So much has changed. Then I remembered what she had said. ‘I also thought

that you would still uphold your promise’. Does that mean that she still has feelings

for me? Is she a completely different person or is she the one I met the other day,

just with better grammar and more memories? This is just confusing. I only met her

and I already feel like my heart will break just thinking about her leaving me. Should

I get close to her and share all the time she has left with her or do I leave now so

that I don’t risk getting even further attached to her? What is best for me and the

world? Why is it left to me to make such an important decision. What would my

dad say? I’m pretty sure he’d say ‘go with your heart. It knows you best. It’ll tell

you what to do if you just listen to it.’

I’ve made my decision. Though I still have three days, I can’t stand to stay away

any longer. “Mom, I’m going out. See you when I get back.” Why do I feel like this?

I think I’ve fallen in love! With someone I’ve barely known two days! I have to tell

her. I don’t want to be like the ones that came before me.

“They were simple directions. Well, you have been raised by a human. I should have known this would happen.”

“Get out of his house, whoever, whatever you are!” Sheyna yelled

“His house? This house is made from materials from the Earth. Therefore, it is a part of me and more mine than it could ever be his. You stupid human.”

“What! I’ll make. . .”

“Stop it! You two just stop.” he said

“What were you going to say? Like it even matters. Now, back to the matter at hand. I told you to keep silent, yet you went and told them. Where is your common sense?”

“I told them because I know you need me to save the world.” he had the nerve to say

“You really should read between the lines. I told you before. Humans are a very destructive race, so why would I want to save them. I am here against my will. So it is you who needs me to save this planet. Either way I will perish so why should I care?”

“You’ll perish either way? What the hell do you mean by that?” Sheyna asked.

“Whether we save the human race or not, I will die. I will not be a god anymore. I’ll die just like my mother. I had hoped that he would be different, but he is just like the Chosen One before him.”

“What did he do?” J.B. asked

“His decision took her life, for he decided as the ones before him, not to help my ancestors."

“What made you think I would be any different?” he asked

“You are the first chosen one to be half god. All the others were purely human. You are different. I guess you’re just not different in that way. I also thought that you would still uphold your promise.”

“What promise?”

“You remember what you told me right before it happened? I took that as a promise. Maybe I should not have.”

“I’m sorry, I just didn’t think anything like this would happen when I said that.”

“I understand. Anyways, the choice is yours. You have exactly one week. You know where I will be.”

“Yeah, I’ll see you with my decision then.”

“I believe you will. As for you, Sheyna, you’re a good friend. I can tell you are very protective, and you should also be careful. I can see how you feel. I feel it too. Even though I have my old memories back, I still have the new ones as well.”

“I really don’t know what you mean, but I’ll try my best to take your advice. If you get my drift.”

“Yes. Of course I do. They don’t call me Mother Nature for nothing.” I said putting emphasis on the word mother.

“Bye.” they both said

“Bye. For now.” I laughed vanishing into the darkness. Going through the walls. I wonder just how different he’ll be. How human will he act? There is just no way to tell at the moment.

How could this happen? I meet the girl of my dreams, and she turns out to be a goddess. The irony of it. Besides THAT, I'm half god. Today was supposed to be the best day of our lives. Well, I still think of it like that since technically it wasn’t our birthday anymore. I need to talk to someone about this. But she said not to tell anyone. This is too stressful to keep it to myself. Hey, she needs me to save the world. What’s the worse she could do? I picked up the phone and dialed.

“Hey Sheyna. Can you and James meet me at the crib? Something big just happened and I need some help.”

“Sure, what ever you need. Are you all right? You don’t sound happy. What happened?”

“I’ll fill you in when I get there. Just get James and get there. And, thanks. I appreciate it.”

“No problem. You know we’d do anything for you. See ya.”

“See ya.” at least I know I can count on my friends. The only ones who never let me down. I’ll always have them. They pulled into the driveway behind me, and I let us into my house.

“So what happened? What was so big you need our help? This has to be big if you’re asking for our help. You usually just keep to yourself when you have a problem.” James asked.

“I never thought something like this could happen. I never thought it was possible. Yet, it happened. How the hell am I supposed to deal with this. I’m not supposed to tell anyone, but I have to. This is something I can’t keep to myself.” I said pacing back and forth.

“I took K.C. back to the forest and we were talking. Then we kissed and there was a lunar rainbow in the sky. Then she like fell. Her legs just gave out. And when she got back up, she was a different person all together. Even the way she talked was different, and she started talking about how she isn’t human. She said she is Mother Nature and that I’m half-god. When I called her crazy and tried to walk away, she made this big slippery seven foot wall rise around us. Then she said I'm the Chosen One and the son of Poseidon, and I told her I’ve never been in water. Then she raised a lake right there in front of my eyes. It was amazing. Then she told me to jump in and I called her nuts, but I did in the end. When I jumped in there was a whirlpool and the water was foaming. And then she said ‘it has been proved’”

“Are you insane or are you trying to trick us. There is no way that really happened. Sheyna, I think this is a trick. What about you?”

“I’m really telling the truth James! Don’t you think so Sheyna.” I responded. “Come on Sheyna. I swear on my life that I am not making this up and I am not crazy!”

“Um. . . I think. . . I think he is telling the truth. I mean, he would never swear on his life otherwise. We both know that, James.”

“Well, I’m out. You can believe what you want. I’ll see you at the house sis. Later man.” After he left we just stood there sharing the moment. Then she said, “I think he’ll. . .” I never found out what she thought. K. C. Appeared in a tornado of wind and dust.

“Why didn’t you just do what I told you?”

The dress is absolutely perfect. It brung out my eyes and it hugged my figure. I hope they like me. This is going really fast. I just met him yesterday. Maybe this isn’t a good idea. I have to talk to Meeka.

“Meeka! Can I talk to to you for a minute?!”

“Yeah, what’s up?” she answered, walking into the room.

“I was just thinking. . . maybe this is going too fast. I mean, I just met him yesterday. All I know about him is his name, and I’m already meeting everyone. I just don’t know about this.”

“K.C. today is your day, but do you really think I wouldn’t tell you if I thought this was wrong? You know me better than that. I know this is going really fast but I think he’s trustworthy. You only turn seventeen once girl, have fun.”

“I guess you’re right. So how do I look. I know the dress is perfect, but what about my hair?”

“ Es perfecto! Don’t worry so much. He and Rob will be back soon so hurry up! Andele!”

“Okay, okay. I have to find one more thing, and then I’m ready.”

“Then find it, ahora.”

I quickly went through my suitcase, and it was nowhere to be seen. Where could it be. I know I put it in here. I hear Meeka calling my name, but this is important. I have to find it. There it is!

“I said come on right now! Ahorita!”

“Sorry! I couldn’t find it. I have it now so let’s go.” I said hurrying out the door. “Sorry, I had to find something. Let’s go.”

(ten minutes pass)
This house is huge! I never thought there was a house this big. How could people live in a house this big. I’d probably get lost. Incredible.

“I had no idea your house was this big! Wow! I love it already and I haven’t seen the inside. How come you didn’t tell me?”

“I don’t know. I forgot. I really didn’t think about it.” he said

“She’s right about one thing. I love it too. Who do you live with anyway?” Meeka said.

“It’s just me and mom right now. My two older brothers went off to college.”

“You mean only four people lived here. That’s just crazy. It would feel to. . . I don’t know. I mean, I’m claustrophobic but damn, that’s too big.” I said.

“I guess I just got used to it over time. Besides, the only time I’m home is at night and days i'm only here on special occasions.”

“Come on, I’m ready to party. We didn’t come to just stand out here talking all night.” rob complained.

As soon as we entered a loud cheer erupted, and people came forward wth happy birthdays’ and then it was just like a normal house party. We danced and danced and just had fun. It was definitely the best birthday I’ve ever had. At eleven thirty we left and went back to the woods. Twenty-five minutes later in the middle of the woods we kissed. I have never been so passionate in my life. Minutes later we broke off the kiss and I said, “I know nothing about you except your name but, I feel like I love you. I’ve never felt love for anyone besides my friends.

“I feel like that too. I feel like anything could happen and we could stay together.”

At that moment, a lunar rainbow spread across the sky and my legs gave out. In that instant, my memories returned to me and it turned midnight. How could I fall in love with a human. Well, he’s really a half-breed, but still. This is unacceptable. He’s the chosen one. I cannot fall in love with him.

“Are you okay, K.C.? What happened.”

“My memories returned to me. I’m sorry to have to do this to you after what just happened, but I find it easier to just get it over with. There is no use in putting it off.”

“You got your memories back? No use putting it off? What’s going on with you and why do you sound so proper all of a sudden?”

“ I’m not human. Not really. I am Mother Nature sent here in human form to find you and save the world from the destruction that will occur in two months. You yourself are not fully human for your father was Poseidon, god of the sea.”

"What! Are you crazy? We should go. I think you’ve lost your mind.” he said walking away. Suddenly the ground started shaking, and we were surrounded by a smooth, slick seven foot walls of earth.

“Do you see now that I am not crazy? That I am telling the truth?’

“What the hell are you? Why do you want me?”

“I told you that I am Mother Nature. You are son of Poseidon, but you are also the Chosen One.”

“The Chosen One? Me? You must be mistaken. I can’t save the world. Besides I don’t have any special powers.”

“Are you a good swimmer?”

“No. I’ve never even been in the water.’

“Well, let us see to that.” I turned and made a lake in the clearing. “Now, get in and we will see whether you are truly the son of Poseidon.”

“Are you crazy? I can’t swim. I’ll drown!”

“I would not stand by and let you drown. Now get in!” I commanded. He looked startled by my tone. I did not mean to be like that but he irritated me. “I’m sorry. I lost my grip on my temper. Will you please get in so we can get this done and over with.”

He stepped cautiously towards the edge, closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and jumped in. The reaction to his presence in the water was immediate. The water started to foam and the water formed a whirlpool. J.B. stood in its middle, wearing an expression of total shock.

“It has been proved” I silently commanded the water to go back into the earth. “We should go. You have a lot to think about.” I told him.“The gods have many children hee on earth. Most, like you do not know of this. It is only when a god awakens them as I have just done. I must tell you that I have no clue why they have chidren on Earth. Humans are a destructive race. Selfish and unreliable. I also must warn you not to speak to anyone about what just happened. I hope you understand the importance of your silence. i'll be watching.”

“I understand. Can we just go? I have to go home and think about all of this. This is a lot to handle.”

I never knew someone could look so . . . voluptuous. I wonder . . . no. get your head out of the gutter. I should not be having these thoughts. She’s made it clear about these kind of things. She’s so straightforward. It’s so sexy. It turns me on just thinking about it. I’ve never felt like this before. I mean, to know that I can’t touch her when she’s so . . .

“JB. Are you okay? Hello, are you even listening to me?”

“I’m sorry. I got a little . . . uh . . . distracted. What were you saying?”

“I know that look. You were thinking about something you shouldn’t be. I have enough experience with Rob to know it when I see it. He says that I can always know I look good so I shouldn’t be bothered by it”

“I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to, it just kinda happened” I finished lamely.

“Whateva. I guess I should have seen that coming. Shit, I am sexy. Besides you’re a guy. Anyway, I don’t mind as long as you listen to me.”

“Really? You’re so unlike other girls. Here’s main street. Everything that’s anything is found here. Any kind of store you need.”

“This is off the chain. Ain’t this tight, Meeka?”

“Yeah girl this mucho excellente! We have got to come back here tomorrow!” she answered

“What’s next J.B.? Man, I heard there was a lot of country in Saginaw. So where’s it at?” Rob interjected.

“So you’re the country type Rob? I never would have guessed. We can check that out next.”

“Hardly. I just thought my girl K.C. would like to see it with her nature-loving ass.”

“Well, thank you Rob. Since when do you think about others?” K.C. asked.

“I ain’t that selfish. I think about others once-in-awhile. Thank you very much.”

“Whateva. You’re a pain in the ass too. Even when you’re right.”

“Silencio, por favor. Muchas gracias. You two need to stop.” Meeka said just as he was about to respond.

Through all of this I just sat there listening and thinking. So she’s the nature type? That is just perfect. They were all going around and around, back and forth arguing. Even though they were constantly arguing, you could tell they have a special bond. I kind of liked that. It was kind of unnerving, how Rob looked at her, but she'd said he’s a womanizer.

“This is the heart of Saginaw. It’s better in the evening. Midnight especially.”

“Look. There’s a fox!” K.C. said excitedly, getting out and walking towards the animal.

“Hey! That animal is dangerous. Get away from it!”

“It’s no use. She won’t listen. She’ll be fine. She’s handled bigger and worse animals than that fox. Animals seem to like her a lot.” Meeka told me.

“Are you crazy? That’s a fox. It can tear her apart.”

“See for yourself. Besides, I’ve seen her walk right up to lions and elephants. I’m telling you, this is nothing. As long as we stay here there’s no problemo.”

“This is unnatural. It should be attacking. Bizarre.”

“That’s just K.C. for you. Perfection.”Rob sighed.

“This cannot be happening . Who the hell is she, Mother Nature?”

“Hey, J.B.” K.C. called, “it’s seven. Shouldn’t we get ready for this surprise of yours?”

“Yeah, thanks for reminding me. Let’s bounce.”

On the way back to their motel, I thought about her unusual talent. She was definitely unlike any girl he’d ever met. If her friends’ word was to be trusted, she’d approached elephants and lions too. That is just. . . a lot to handle.

“So now that we’re here, can you tell me what the surprise is? I want to dress right.”

“I guess. We’re going to our birthday party. Notice I said our not my. I’m sure you’d look good in anything, but the theme is dressy, so wear your best.”

“Perfect. I intend to.” she replied sounding dangerously sexy.

“Hey. You’re right on time,” I heard Meeka say in her Jamaican accent. “She’ll be out in a minute.”

“Thanks.” he replied, sounding as sexy as ever.

“De nada. You’re welcome.”

“You know, I’ve been wondering. You sound Jamaican, but you talk in Spanish a lot.”

“I was born in Jamaica, but when I was three, my mom and I moved to Mexico, then Grand Rapids the next year. I like Spanish, and the Jamaican accent kind of stuck with me after my mom died seven years ago.”

“Sorry to hear that. Sorry for being so rude, I shouldn’t have asked.”

“It’s okay. Be right back, I have to find Rob and tell him you’re here.”

“Hi, J.B. sorry I took so long. I didn’t mean to keep you waiting .” I apologized

“No problem. Besides, I had a great conversation with Meeka. It was very interesting. I think my cousin James would really like her.”

“Really? Maybe you should talk to her about him. Maybe she’ll be interested. Rob would probably feel like a third wheel though.”

“Meeka wasn’t the only one I’ve been thinking about. I bet he’d be interested in my cousin. And with both of them occupied, it will just be you and me.” he finished in a slow, deep voice.

“I like the sound of that. We need to get one thing straight first though. I don’t do certain things, one of them is to sleep with a man I barely know, I think that gives off a feeling that I would sleep with any and everybody. Plus, I rarely trust anyone, so don’t betray that trust because if you do you put your life in danger. Understand?”

“ I understand, and you do not have to worry. I will do the best I possibly can to avoid ever hurting you, mi reina.”

“So I’m your queen huh? Then you must be my king. You better treat me like one.”

“It will be my pleasure, mi reina.”

“Let’s go then. This better be fun. Maybe we can meet some people? I want the grand tour. What are we doing later? You say it’s your birthday too. You must have something planned.”

“It’s a surprise. You’ll see later. I will do my best to show you everything I can in the time we have. By the way, I like what you’re wearing. It’s . . . perfecto.”

“Gracias. I got it especially for today. I’m glad you like it.”

“I’m pretty sure, no day will be better than this one.”

“We’ll just have to see about that.”

“Whatever you say, mi reina. Iam here to serve you.”

“Then let’s go,” I laughed, walking towards the door.

“Mom, can I talk to you? It’s about the party.”

“Sure. What is it?”

“I want to change the whole thing. I want to have someone else involved. She has the same birthday as me . . . and I really like her.”

“ So you’re telling me that you want me to rearrange the whole thing for some girl I’ve never met?”

“Yeah. That’s exactly what I’m saying. Please mom?”

“Fine. She better be worth it. Only this one time.”

“I can guarantee that there’s no one else in this universe like her. I love you mom. Thank you!”

Today is gonna be spectacular. What are the odds? I meet a sexy, out of this world girl, who seems to like me, and has the same birthday as me. This birthday is going to be just perfect. Time to start getting ready before I'm late. I wonder what she’ll wear. Whatever it is, I’m sure she’ll look absolutely ravishing. I think she likes me. Hey, who doesn’t? Whatever the case, I am going to make my move tonight. I’ll just have to wait until then to find out just how much she likes me. And what kind of girl she really is. My new years’ revolution to meet the perfect girl is coming true. I didn’t really expect it to happen so soon.

“See you later mom. Thank you again!”

“Get out of here before I change my mind,” she muttered “you crazy boy.”

“That is one fine man right there! Looks like I’m gonna have some fun here after all. This is perfecto. I mean, what were the chances that he had the same birthday as me? This is fate. . .or karma finally paying me back. Tomorrow is going to be the best birthday ever. I can feel it.”

“Sounds like me and you are going to be tagging along on this so-called fun in the city,”Meeka said to Rob sarcastically.

“It’ll be an honor. I always wanted to be bored out of my mind. Oh the sweet perils of friendship.. How I loathe you,” Rob interjected.

“You two needs to shut the fuck up before I start some shit up in here. We all know none of us want that. Not on our first day here.”

“You know we was just playin’. I don’t know why you be trippin.”

“I know. I just like to get under ya skin,” I admitted. “Anyway, you have to admit that he is fine and sexy than a
motherfucka.”

“I ain’t gone lie. He is. I would rape that nigga if I could.”

“If I’m lucky, I won’t have to. Just thinkin’ about him sends chills down my spine. He has to good the way he looks. Woo!”

“Hello! I’m still here. Man, don’t be talkin like that in front of me. Y’all don’t like me talking like that with Santana in front of ỳall.”

“Fine. We’ll spare the painful pleasure,”Meeka said.

“Come on. Let’s go shopping. I need a new outfit for tomorrow. This birthday girl is gonna stay fly. I’m glad I saved every dime I ever made. Maybe there’s still a chance I could be happy after all.” I say walking into Debs.

“Yes ma’am! Whateva you say. Ooh! That dress is tight! It’ll go perfect with those heels. Try it on, and see how it looks!”she exclaimed “Fantastic! Wow. You should get your hair and nails done to match. You’ll look absolutely wonderful! Right Rob? Rob? Rob!”

“Huh? Yeah, ab-absolutely p-perfect.”he stuttered

“Are you okay? You look uncomfortable.”

“No. I’m fine. Is it just me or is it getting hot in here?”

“Trust me. It’s just you. Womanizer. Snap out of it, will you.”

“Sorry. It’s just my natural reaction. Hey! You can tell you look good, can’t you. Think of my reaction as a magic mirror.”

“Whateva. I’m going to buy it. For once in my life I’m going all out.

“Finally! Good for you. I’ll meet you back at the dorm. I got to pick up something. Adios amigos!”

“Adios Meeka! Rob can you carry this for me? Please?”

“I guess I’ll be bag-boy for a little while. But you can’t take foreva in these stores or I’ll bounce. Comprende ?”

“Okay. Thank you. So . . . what did you get me?”

“It’s surprise. You have to wait until tomorrow. Hint: it begins at 12 a.m..”

“It better be good. I have high expectations for this birthday!”

I watched from a distance as she and her friend looked through the merchandise. I have never seen anyone as beautiful as her. I doubt there is such a person. With her long flowing black hair, shapely figure, caramel skin, and those one-of-a-kind bluish-gray eyes. She must have felt me watching her for she now approached me.
“Do you need something?” sh asked
“Yeah. A camera that can capture your beauty.”
“Nice line. It just might work.”
“For I am a poet, it is no line, though I may not show it, I’m sweeter than the sweetest wine.”
“Nice. I’m Keyshia Camdinn. My friends call me KC. What’s your name?”
“My name is Johnathon Black. What a coincidence. My friends call me JB.”
“My friends and I are new in town. You wouldn’t mind showing us around would you?”
“Friends?” I asked
“Rob is somewhere trying to get in some girl’s clothes.”
“No. I’m right here.”Rob interjected
“When did you come back?”
“That would be at the ‘what’s your name’ part. You would have noticed if you two had disengaged eye contact for even a second.” he answered
“Whateva. Any success?”
“Not even one. Are you going to introduce me or should I?”
“Rob this JB, JB this is Rob.”
“Nice to meet you. So what’s the deal on the ladies here in Saginaw. On the real, I’m looking for the type who likes a good booty call.” Rob told me
“You can find a lot of that type here. You just have to know where to look. But I wouldn’t chance it if I were you. You might catch something. You never know. Where are you all staying, I’d love to take you up on your offer,”I said looking into the depths of her eyes.
“We’re at the Holiday inn. Suite 26. Feel free to stop by anytime you feel like it. I can guarantee you’ll always be welcome. You should remember that."
“Of course. Tomorrow, around eleven. We can have lunch as well. We can go ridin’ in my whip. Have some fun. The city is at its best around midday. I’ll see you all then.”I nodded. “Later.”
“Later,” she replied. “Wait, tomorrow’s my birthday!”
“Mine too! Even better. I’ll make sure it is the best either of us have ever had,”I replied. ‘Maybe you’ll come to my party too?”
“It would be my pleasure. and yours too, I hope.”she said as i walked away

My Life. A life made for a movie. I was born February 6, 1992 to a mother I never knew. She died giving birth to me and my father didn’t want me. I’ve lived in so many foster homes that I can’t name them all. I’ve lived through a lot of bullshit. Is it possible to be alive without really living? I grew up on the streets in a neighborhood where it is kill or be killed. I have made only two friends In my lifetime.
I’m the sort of girl who doesn’t have many friends because I’m quiet and I don’t trust many. The type who likes to be alone most of the time, but likes to have fun or just chill the rest. Then there’s the hatin that most girls do, and most guys only want one of two things: a relationship or a booty call. Besides, most try to avoid me because I'm a magnet for trouble. The not funny later kind that no one wants. I have gone through a lot of things and one thing I’ve learned is that you should trust no one too much. Also, that being able to act is an important skill to have. It is the only way you can survive in this dog eat dog world of mine.

My name is Keyshia D. Camdinn. My friends call me KC. I will turn 17 in exactly two days. We will run away from here tomorrow. By we I mean my best friends Meeka and Rob. The only ones who understand me and my weirdness. I have known Meeka my entire life and when Rob came we all just clicked. In exactly nine hours to be precise. I already have everything packed. Now all we have to do is wait.
We all view our lives as stories in one big book that never ends. In which the characters struggle to stay sane in their everyday lives. We live in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and we’re catching the Greyhound to Saginaw, north of here. I have planned this very thoroughly so there shouldn’t be many surprises. I hate surprises. And change, but I have grown accustomed to them in my messed up life. I have always sought comfort from the remaining nature in this wretched city.

I probably sound like I wallow in self-pity, but I don’t. Really, I just try to be as sane as I can and stay alive until I can escape my life in this place we’ve nicknamed Gun Ru. The next day, I woke before everyone else as usual. It didn’t take long to wake Rob and Meeka, and we were on our way. It sounds like the beginning of some great adventure story, but we’ll see how it turns out when we arrive. It is an hour and forty-five minute bus ride with one stop midway. We’re finally going! I’m so happy and just . . . energetic. This trip is just starting off perfectly.

I hate all of them. “They only think of themselves. They constantly abuse

everything they come into contact with, including my physical body. So why, I ask

is it up to Mother Nature to save them every 100 years since they have existed. I

know better than anyone that the human race deserves to perish. Sending me to

find the deity as a human will not change my opinion or the fact that they will choose

the same path, resulting in the same pattern of the past 21 centuries.” I argued to

the 16th philosophical court.

“The spirit of Mother Earth, also referred to as Mother Nature, has presented her

case. In the appeal of the 15th deity court’s ruling, this court will vote. All in favor

of denying the appeal?”

I can’t believe this! How could they deny my appeal?! Well, if there is one thing I’ve

learned from this, it is that the court system cannot be trusted. Oh my god! I’m

going to be living on my self for over eighteen years!
