this is a tribute to a close friend i had and the promise i made to him
I was a cutter
You were a smoker

We found each other
We saved each other

We were never perfect
on our way back to normality

When you slipped so did my knife
When I slipped, so did your lighter

We both slowly gave up our addictions

Our fates collided and changed directions

We keep our promise to stay like this
by wearing a washer around our necks

It’s been two years since you died
and I still wear mine

I was a cutter
You were a smoker
