This is my digital project.
Welcome to Dana's digital project and presentation!  This would be an example of a possible document a student could upload onto his/her e-portfolio on the Web.  This free account allows students to share very basic text.  If teachers are willing to pay for a domain (godaddy.com, etc.), then a class page can be created with multiple individual student pages stemming off of it.  Paying for a domain allows you to choose your own website name (ie: AspirePrepWriters.com) and also allows for students to upload multiple file types such as .jpg, .mov, .gif, .mp3, .xls, .ppt, etc. in the case of multimedia assignments.

However, writing.com is a great start for sharing work over the Internet for those who want to go beyond the simple Word-document-serving-as-electronic-portfolio.  Word has limited accessibility to others whereas the Internet can be reached by all.

For beginners just beginning to grapple with making their portfolios electronic or public, writing.com allows for users to select their own privacy settings.  For example, users can set up a PassKey which would limit who can view their work based upon whether or not they have received that unique password.  Additionally, users can restrict the responses and feedback their audience may leave on their page.  It is possible to disable any type of feedback or critique, but users can also go one step further by allowing for reviews (qualitative feedback) while disabling ratings (quantitative feedback).
