LIFE AFTER SIXTY

Life after sixty, is certainly very cool,
I’ve lived a life of danger, and I’ve broken every rule,
I never really cared a lot, about what people said,
but as I’m looking back on them, I think they’re mostly dead.

In my hot and raving teens, the juice would really flow,
for every night and every day, I was always on the go.
The thought of beer and sex and fun, would always drive me wild,
I was a man of many needs, a virtual flower child.

Chorus

Life after sixty, is treatin' me very well,
I’ve spent my time in heaven, and I’m probably going to hell.
Ask me if I give a damn, and here is what I say,
Pass the bloody Geritol... and give me one more day.

But when I hit the twenties, I really got around,
I was chasin’ after women, in every little town.
Everything from early teens, to forty and below,
for where my need would take me, I didn’t care or know.

After thirty something, I begin to settle down,
life became a driving force, a virtual battleground.
For days on end and even years, I ran the uphill race,
I fought and clawed and settled down, and found my rightful place.

Chorus
Life after sixty, is treatin' me very well,
I’ve spent my time in heaven, and I’m probably going to hell.
Ask me if I give a damn, and here is what I say,
Pass the bloody Geritol... and give me one more day.

Suddenly after forty, my thoughts began to dwell,
mostly on the little things, and forty years of hell.
Many times around the world, I traveled far and wide,
but as for learning anything, I never really tried.

As the fifties came along, and health begin to slide,
I think of all the things I did, and things I never tried.
I never danced a perfect waltz, nor traveled to the moon,
I never wrote a single song, or happy jolly tune.

Chorus
Life after sixty, is treatin' me very well,
I’ve spent my time in heaven, and I’m probably going to hell.
Ask me if I give a damn, and here is what I say,
Pass the bloody Geritol... and give me one more day.

Now in my early sixties, life is really fun,
my mind is bright and eager, but I can barely run.
I can tell my many stories, to the kids before I die,
and they would never know the truth, if I told a little lie.

I am happy and contented, with the years that I have had,
I have lived a life of fullness, barely sprinkled with the bad.
I look toward the years ahead, and all the holidays,
and as my family always said, I’ll never change my ways.

Chorus
Life after sixty, is treatin' me very well,
I’ve spent my time in heaven, and I’m probably going to hell.
Ask me if I give a damn, and here is what I say,
Pass the bloody Geritol... and give me one more day.
