sippin' a drink
I distinctly remember the taste of whiskey
"Come on, they are giving shots for free!"
I was there for the store's grand opening,
to listen to a beautiful, talented friend sing.
who always sounded like an angel to me.

The liquid was dark like sun-warmed tea.
as for it's alleged smoothness, I did not agree.
Upon first burning sip I did not feel like a king.
I distinctly remember.

My throat was warmed to a high degree.
"No more!" was my weakly gasped decree.
"Come on, you have to finish the thing!"
I tossed back the drink, eyes beginning to sting.
I can affirm drinking Jack Daniels is risky!
I distinctly remember.
