Some random thoughts together with some random connections with the Greek mythology.
Hey guys, this is my first trial to write something that resembles a novel ( or maybe it does not, just tell me) Well, I'm not too sure if I can develop a story from it, but we'll see. Constructive criticisms, comments and suggestions are highly appreciated. Finally, thanks for reading

In the primeval era, mankind took an oath and pledged their allegiance to the aesthetic nature of love itself, by being faithful to their spouses, as a quid pro quo, for the charm of Cupid, the God of Love, which matched people into pairs.

Cupid's incantation matched humankind in pairs, which saved them from searching each other in vain. It was as if they were all being put onto separate tracks in pairs, and ran into each other effortlessly with the propulsion of the spell.

Cupid's wisdom matched the lovers seamlessly and his charm brought sheer love to Earth. The charm worked effortlessly together with the faithfulness of humankind. The incantation never failed nor did humankind breach their pledge. That was such a grateful period that the fragrance of love scented the air and the chanting of angels rumbled even in the edges of the world.

Nothing lasts, let alone the allegiance of humankind, for their nature precluded it. Affected allegiance could no longer deceive, pretentious faithfulness lost its power of deception, for Cupid's true sight could see beyond humankind's hypocrisy.

Cupid bore no grudges against humankind, for he had anticipated their disloyalty and their breach of oath. Humankind continued their indulgences, without realizing the acrid of envy supplanted the fragrance of love and the chanting of the angels began to subside.

Time went on, with humankind obliviously ignoring the fact that Cupid had witnessed everything. Despite Cupid's forbearance, humankind had eventually made Cupid seethed with wrath. Longing to create a place filled with love, Cupid failed desperately. Having decided that he will never meddle with humankind's affairs again, the incantation vanished as abruptly as it had enchanted them. And the disappearance of the only period that was filled with love ensued. Nevertheless, Cupid still got a glimmer of hope for he casted his last charm upon humankind.

As a result, humans are only born with half in their soul, and they will have to find the other half in the one that was chosen for them by Cupid himself.
