Inspired by Edinburgh, this poem is about the winter season and the joy of going home.
                  Home

Pale daylight leaches from a sky,
of purple pregnant leaden clouds,
the phantom moon a baleful eye,
upon the muffled shrouded crowds.

My breathing freezes in the air,
fingers go numb as heat is lost,
drizzle makes rats tails of my hair,
I skid on pavements slick with frost.

Black waves assault the silent beach,
eerie in fog and salty foam,
I trudge these bitter miles to reach,
the laughter and the love of home.
