Intense poetry about rejection and overcoming it
Rejected

There was once a time I was dejected
Because the devil was injected
Into the way I was projected.
I was, those days, rejected.

You said I was bad and ugly too.
You said I could never be one of you.
I swallowed that and exhibited a grin
While biting my tongue above my chin.

Tears in my heart – they were blinding.
Flames in my soul – they were guiding.
I fled as fast as I could flee.
I climbed as high as I could see.

Looking back, I smile to see
You standing down looking up to me.
Following my way, you are far behind.
Weak, exhausted, your teeth you grind.

Looking ahead, I exhibit a grin
While you bite your tongue above your chin.
To say this I am dejected –
Sorry, you all are rejected.
