A dark tale of a cruel Halloween curse
The Dark Prince of Halloween

Come listen to me children, for I have a tale to tell,
about the Eve of Halloween, and a very wicked spell.
Snuggle close and cuddle up, and keep a wary eye,
for tonight’s the time when ugly spirits roam across the sky.

It started back in yesteryear, when witches roamed the land,
and dragons flew and warriors fought, and made their final stand.
Pretty maids, all dressed in white, with garlands in their hair,
were thrown upon the rocks to scream, outside the creature’s lair.

They called him Prince, and bent their knees, and gave him lots of gold,
but had they known the truth of it, their Prince was mad and cold.
When at last a shining knight did send him to his fate,
he placed an evil curse on all, with a fierce and deadly hate.

From this day on, and forever more, they heard the Prince to say,
Three shall die and scores will scream, and many more will pray.
I shall return, to slake my thirst, and take my pay in blood,
and tear your flesh, and rend your bones, and crush them in the mud.

And since that day, so long ago, though many tried to leave,
three have died and many cried, on bloody Hallows Eve.
Tonight’s the night, my little ones, and the curse shall come again,
so look to your left, and look to your right, at each and every friend.

That sound you hear, on the window pane, and the howling of the wind,
shall make its way inside your home, and thus will be your end.
So listen now and listen well there’s a way to fight this curse,
but being bad and playing tricks, you only make it worse.

This is the night, the Prince of Dark, will make his way to town,
and with him comes a mighty host, and evil will abound.
You must draw a sign, upon your house, and on the dusty floor,
and make a cross of myrtle wood, and hang it on your door.

When the Prince is passing by, and sees your blessed cross,
he’ll scream in rage and bare his fangs, and mark it as a loss.
Remember now and heed me well, before the night is here,
and tomorrow will bring another day, of happiness and cheer.
