POVERTY~THE HEART-RENDING REALITY OF LIFE

With evolution, the basic structure/body contours of human beings improved but the inherent characteristics within degenerated. This speaks about the time when social discrimination crept into human minds.

Though we have emerged as a tech-savvy generation, the bias inherited from our ancestors still remains. Throughout the span of our lives, we come across people from various walks of life. We always seem to have a look on things around us but rarely do we reflect upon them. In a general social make-up, a certain section remains a bit backward and deprived in every aspect. POVERTY dooms them.

I have had an observation on poverty-stricken people by the roadside. They seem to have created a life of their own. These people are self-satisfied and lack the zeal to try something new. They just seem to be bothered about 2 square meals a day. Having fulfilled that, they seem to have accomplished a sort of mission for the day. The day begins in the midst of nature (it’s a fact, though). These people are devoid of skyscrapers, so they remain firmly grounded (close to nature, generally in the open fields, under thatched roofs or in other rugged means). They just struggle to eke out a living, somewhat aloof to the fast-paced world encompassing them. This is their very own world, whose pace is fast enough to leave these grief-stricken people far behind.

But, one fact needs to be pondered over. Poverty has marred the morale of this particular section of people. They lack the urge to do something better. They strive to achieve just the basic minimal. According to general perception, poverty has made these selected few a bit unfortunate. Had they been subjected to the privileges we’ve enjoyed, in the present scenario, they would have been one of us.

All those of us, who are at a better financial level, should work cumulatively to bridge this social rift. Donating money does not help. These people need to be educated about both the means to earn and the proper procedure for expenditure. Poverty-stricken people are not poor, by birth. They are just a bit hassled by the intricacies of life. Even they have got an equal right to every single aspect that we experience. As a responsible citizen, we should give an effort to improve their condition.

The major cause of poverty, according to me, is ignorance and the best possible remedy is ‘Education’.
